Both of them were descendants of Cunnedda who migrated to Wales with his 8 sons from Manu Goddodin to help keep out the Irish raiders. Owain was murdered by his nephew Maglocunus (Cadwallon's son) upon Maglocunus' ascent to the throne after Cadwallon's death. Maglocunus then ruled both Gwyddyd & Powys after he murdered Owain. Maglocunus, a practioner of bardic tradition, formed poems and songs of his ascent to the throne for the traveling bards to tell of his glory to the common people. These are the tales handed down by the Welsh troubadors and sung by bards throughout the Dark Ages after Rome withdrew from Britain in 410-411AD, leaving the country in a state of decline.), (rarely ever read anymore, except for textbooks)
